Gathering Preparation Checklist

Questions to ask and arrangements to consider before attending a shared religious gathering.

We prepare for our gatherings with care for the sacred purpose, our families, and the work we share. Use this checklist alongside our Law Speaker and bylaws, and confirm arrangements with the organizer.

Understand the occasion

  • What is being observed, and who is responsible for the gathering?
  • Who may attend, and is advance confirmation required?
  • Which readings or official rules should guests review?
  • What should you bring, wear, or prepare?

Make practical arrangements

  • Confirm the location, arrival time, travel arrangements, and weather plan.
  • Ask about access needs and facilities before traveling.
  • Clarify food arrangements and communicate relevant dietary needs privately.
  • Discuss supervision and suitable participation for children.
  • Ask before taking photographs, making recordings, or sharing the location publicly.

Offer useful help

Ask whether there is an agreed task you can take on. Arrive in time to receive instructions, and follow through with cleanup or other responsibilities you accepted.

Afterward

Record your own questions and reflections. Thank those who carried the work, and follow up on anything you promised. Keep another person’s private words or experiences out of public accounts unless they have agreed to share them.
